In this episode, we’re talking about forgiveness. Forgiveness is a very cathartic practice to release and let go. The job search journey is never easy, but it doesn't have to be hard!
2021 was definitely the year for recalculating (that was an intentional pun Lindsey Pollak) and I have been very lucky to have a huge support system of people by my side to get through it.
I was very strategic about how I spent my time researching companies and positions, while also recognizing my value, non-negotiables, and worth. I became more self-aware in what I wanted from my employer and the type of work I wanted to do.
I have worked in Higher Education for 12 years! 8 of them for The State University of New York and 4 years at Syracuse University. Pivoting out of higher ed and career development was something I never thought I would do or even say out loud. BUT the more time I spent searching and applying to different schools and companies, I realized it was time to make a change.
I knew that I didn't want to leave the education industry completely and my career has always been dedicated to career development, DEI and leadership. Three things that were part of my values and very important to me.
In my job search, I fell in love with one company in particular. I already had a working relationship as a customer with this company, but it wasn't until talking with my Relationship Manager at the time Scott Millslagle that it became clearer I was meant to work with Handshake.
I am very excited to share that I have accepted a position at Handshake as a Relationship Manager on the Education Success team! I am beyond thrilled to be joining the amazing people at Handshake and look forward to starting a bright new chapter in my career.

Although my time at SUNY Polytechnic Institute is coming to an end, it is NOT the end of my time in higher ed. I will be serving as one of the instructors for the SUNY Center of Professional Development in the Career Readiness Champion Program. I will also be continuing to lead and facilitate StrengthsQuest training as a Gallup Strengths Coach. In addition, I have a coaching practice and podcast "Coaching For Millennials" that is continuing to grow every day.

I hope you had the best Thanksgiving ever surrounded by friends and family. The past week has been exhausting and draining on all accounts. I have been processing the journey of my career as I start to transition out of my role at my current full time job and prepare to embark on a brand new journey in a different industry. 
All of the thoughts and emotions in my head and heart had me thinking about how scared I am to start something brand new. The unknown. The idea of not succeeding. What if I had it? Leaving something I love but also starting something new that I love. It’s certainly a lot to hold on to and not think about our let out. 
I began reflecting on my practice of emotional intelligence and how to assess and create awareness around the emotions, Fear and Love. Did you know the opposite of Fear is Love? Sounds crazy, right? Two emotions that can’t be any different from each other, but have so much power in how we control our emotions. The mind powers the fear and the heart powers the love. That battle can be tough if you don’t practice the emotional intelligence around it. 
Let’s dive into this episode and explore these two types of emotions and how you can work towards processing each of them. Now, to be direct and honest, these aren’t secrets! Shhh! Yes, I am sharing them with you because I believe that everyone should have good mentors and guides to help them to be successful in their journey through life and their career.

I can totally geek out on leadership skills and values all day, but I will leave that very broad topic for another episode. Just know that when you take the time and the space to give others honesty and compassion you really make an impact on them.

WE DID IT!! 100 episodes of the podcast, "Coaching For Millennials: Career | Life | LinkedIn." This is a huge milestone and accomplishment. I always say life is meant to be celebrated, big or small. Take the time to appreciate and reflect on what you've accomplished. It's so important to see and recognize your growth and success. Every win is one worth celebrating. 
 
Reflecting on the last 100 episodes, I really wasn't sure what the show was going to become and where it was going. I only knew that it was something I wanted to do and needed to do for my own sanity. I was in a really shitty place mentally and emotionally and the podcast became comforting. No one was around except me, my microphone and my two goldendoodles. The more I learned about podcasts, creating content, sharing it with the world and seeing what it could become, I knew I was doing the right thing. 
The point is that if you have a dream or desire that you want to achieve, DO IT! Stop making excuses or telling yourself that you can't because it just is NOT TRUE!! We all have gifts and talents just waiting to be uncovered. Our dreams are fueled by what we see, hear, and learn. You just need a little extra push to believe in yourself and do it messy. Because guess what, no one is going to know or care that you're not an expert and that you screwed something up. Follow your heart and mind and take one step at a time. I GOT YOU!!!

Hello Chit Chatters!
In this podcast, I want to talk with you about how growth and discomfort are related. And how when you are uncomfortable, you will often seek out ways to avoid that discomfort. But avoidance only leads to more discomfort and more trying to avoid the discomfort. Ultimately, the only real way to grow is to actually get uncomfortable with yourself and give yourself the opportunity to gain insight, knowledge, and learn from the experiences of trying to do something that you really want to do for yourself, your life and journey.
Failure is something we all experience. But often, when we fail, we don't learn anything from that experience. The true mark of a man or woman of worth is not how well they avoid failure but how well they grow from it. If you want to grow as a person, there's no better teacher than experience. No one can really teach you anything until you've been through the process yourself. That's why this episode is so important for all of us. 
I'm going to encourage you to take a small step for yourself, and lean in with courage. And don't be so fearful of the failure and recognize that the failure is a success of failure is part of your growth. Failure is part of your journey. It makes you stronger, it makes you a better person, it gives you resiliency, and it's going to help you in whatever you're trying to create.
